Bland El Nino Birding - Oct 30, 2026

I convinced myself to get out in the field again... I'm privileged to be able adapt my schedule to good birding weather & good birding seasons... Sure, the weather wasn't amazing... But hopefully it would be "good enough"?

Maybe a morning flight watch at Rondeau would be enough to get my nemesis Townsend's Solitaire in Ontario?

It wasn't.

I then teamed up with some other talented birders for a hawk watch just east of Rondeau. Things were promising early, including some nice Red-shouldered Hawks and good looks at a Golden Eagle - but I eventually lost focus and left...

The birding (both locations) really was fun - still filled with awesome sights to see... I'm just itching for something more unusual or remarkable to happen weather wise...

The night before (Oct 29) - I recorded this quick video on my impressions of how this "super" El Nino fall has been going so far. Check it out, if you're interested!
