Condo birding update #29

Feb 8 - during the big snowstorm... Hardly saw a bird due to poor visiblity. When it stopped snowing in the afternoon, a single Horned Grebe was sleeping among the huge waves. Migrant?

Feb 12 - a 2nd basic Glaucous Gull hanging out for quite a while

Feb 13 - Glaucous Gull is still here! + an American Robin looking sharp

Feb 14 - day 3 for the Glaucous

Feb 20 - THREE Peregrine Falcon's together out over the lake. I presume the adult pair from the lift bridge and a wandering juvenile Female that had their attention... Also an Iceland Gull and a sleeping Swan species that wasn't a Mute

Feb 24th - A Double-crested Cormorant flew past over the lake. First in months. Maybe a migrant? Also 12 American Crows along the shore in active migration (one flock)...

Feb 27th - Apparently the 26th was the day to watch (strong NE winds) but I was at work.. Decent numbers of Redhead and Greater Scaup were cool... Lots of Great Black-backs and an increase in White-winged Scoters... Also a lot of mergies on the move

Highlights were 1 adult Kumlien's Iceland Gull and 1 3rd winter Thayer's Gull!!! New for the condo! Boom... I think 3rd winter Thayer's are over-identified, including here.. But I don't care, cause it's a new tick

=============

Hope I'm not over-hyping the north winds... It's a general lack of birding that doesn't leave me much else to talk about - so we'll see how it shakes down
