Expecting incredible birding in the early half of 2013

Why? Because of some crazy theory based on coincidence, that's why!

I can't help but notice that I seem to have 12 month stretches of great birding, and that they never fall within a single calendar year....

Here's the rundown (and as an important note, these are birds I've self-found - not twitched)..

Fall 2012 = GREAT!

Storm Petrel (Leach's), Ross's Gull, Western-type Grebe, Pacific Loon, 150+ Cave Swallows, Cattle Egret, Dickcissels, Eared Grebe...

Spring 2012 = BAD

Pink-sided Junco, Common Teal

Fall 2011 = BAD

Harlequin Duck, Cattle Egret, Ross's Goose

Spring 2011 = GREAT!

Neotropic Cormorant, Fish Crow (2), Kirtland's Warler, Western Tanager, Glossy Ibis, Hornemann's Hoary Redpolls, Ross's Goose, Eurasian Wigeon, Eared Grebe, Summer Tanager (7+), Dickcissels (2 different birds) Laughing Gull

Fall 2010: GREAT!

Sooty/Short-tailed Shearwater, Dovekie, Arctic Tern, Eurasian Wigeon, 2 diff Cattle Egrets, Pacific Loon...

Spring 2010 - BAD - Gyrfalcon, Summer Tanager...

Anyways you get the point.... Here's looking forward to the first 6 months of 2013! I'm not sure how much I'll get out this winter, but the action doesn't realllly start until mid april anyways, right??
