Quick long-term weather forecast update

NEW YORK, Sept 8 (Reuters) - The dreaded La Nina weather anomaly, blamed for both drought and record snowfall in the U.S., has returned and will garner strength during the coming winter, the U.S. Climate Prediction
Center forecast Thursday.

"While it is not yet clear what the ultimate strength of this La Nina will be, La Nina conditions have returned and are expected to gradually strengthen and continue into the Northern Hemisphere winter (of) 2011-12," the CPC said in a monthly update.

It said waters in the eastern half of the equatorial Pacific Ocean cooled in August, and the "oceanic and  atmospheric patterns reflect the return of La Nina conditions."

And you know what that means... Storms and snow for us!!!

As it should last at least throughout the winter, here's hoping for a repeat of the extremely active April we had for stormy weather:

(Apr 15, 2011)

If anything, maybe now it will last longer into May and bring us more rarities.... Even later this fall the big storms should ramp-up a bit more than average...

Big storms bring rare birds. and I just flat out enjoy stormy weather anyways.
