Shock and Awe - the Lake Erie sandbars show off their birding might

Ever since we had a spectacular rarity storm around Apr 19th, the two major Lake Erie "sandbars" - Long Point and Point Pelee - put on a little reminder of just how mind-boggling the birding can be on the "good days"....

What's that Magee Marsh? Warbler Capital of the World you say?! HAHAHAHA... That's rich.

Long Point Apr 20 to May 5:

2 Eurasian Wigeon
Eared Grebe
Laughing Gull
Parasitic Jaeger
Pomarine Jaeger
YELLOW RAIL
Chuck-wills-widow
Pileated Woodpecker (3rd tip record)
BEWICK'S WREN
2 Yellow-throated Warblers
Worm-eating Warbler
SWAINSON'S WARBLER
Summer Tanager
Harris's Sparrow

Point Pelee Apr 27 to May 5: (barely got going until Apr 27th)

King Eider
2 Laughing Gulls
3 BLACK-NECKED STILTS
2 Chuck-wills-widow's
Pileated Woodpecker (3rd modern Pelee record)
SWALLOW-TAILED KITE
Mississippi Kite(s)
BELL'S VIREO
TOWNSEND'S WARBLER
Yellow-throated Warbler
Sev. Worm-eating Warblers
Sev. Kentucky Warblers
PAINTED BUNTING
Dickcissel
Henslow's Sparrow

And that's just the really rare stuff... Not to mention the "oodles" of rares like Willets, Little Gulls, Hooded Warbs etc etc etc

Also note that this is a poorly researched post (i'm probably forgetting stuff)... Also note that while I chirped Magee about their warblers - this post isn't about warblers... But with that said - we kick butt in the Warbler dept. as well.
